November 15, 2024 was a very special day at The Lighthouse! All of our Guests and Volunteers shared a meal with the Founders of the Waterville Area Soup Kitchen.

We recognized them with a plaque that will be hung in the kitchen and displayed for years to come. Without their devotion and dedication to serving our community, the soup kitchen would not exist. We thank you, Aline Poulin, Paul and Marie McDonald. Austin Segel, Barbara Pouliot, and Roger and Jane Routhier.

Hannaford Helps Reusable Bag Program

Our organization was chosen to benefit from this program during the whole month of November 2024.

We will receive $1 for every reusable "Fight Hunger Bag" sold at Hannaford's location of: JFK Plaza on KMD.

P.S. These make great gift bags as well and with Christmas coming up, you can give a present in a bag that they can reuse!

Thank you to KSB for the 2023 Catalyst Grant

catalyst grant logo

Members of the Waterville Area Soup Kitchen’s Board of Directors were pleased to welcome Kennebec Savings Bank President and CEO Andrew Silsby and Vice President Amanda Cooley, along with members of the Catalyst Review and Selection Committee to the Lighthouse in early November for the presentation of KSB’s 2023 Catalyst Grant.  Bank officials were given a tour of the Lighthouse and especially the kitchen.

We are anxious to put this generous award to use. It will allow us to expand and upgrade our kitchen with additional cooking surfaces as well as some more commercial grade equipment. These improvements will allow our kitchen staff to more efficiently produce the meals necessary to meet the growing need in our community.   Thank you, KSB! We deeply appreciate your support.

Sincere thanks to:

Fr. Jacques Dolbec for a most generous donation to help upgrade our kitchen.

Camp Manitou - for more than 900 pounds of food as the camp closes for the season.

John T. Gorman Foundation for a $15,000. grant.

Maine Community Foundation for a $10,000. grant.

Bangor Savings Bank for a $4,000. grant.

Fortin's Home Furnishings for two refrigerator/freezers.
