Serving. Loving. Restoring.

Drawn bowl of soup

The Waterville Area Soup Kitchen was founded in the summer of 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic to fill the gap left by the closure of the Sacred Heart Soup Kitchen.

In its early days, volunteers prepared soup, stew, and sandwiches twice a week, distributing meals from their vehicles across Waterville to reach those in need.

In spring 2022, the organization opened its permanent home at 38 College Avenue. Known as “The Lighthouse,” the space now welcomes guests to dine with dignity, serving more than 300 meals each day. In addition to lunch, a light breakfast of cereal, toast, muffins, juice, and coffee is offered, continuing the mission of nourishment, connection, and community.
